Uayma era un importante centro ceremonial maya, y por eso fue elegida por los Franciscanos para construir la gran Misión de Santo Domingo, erigida usando las piedras de antiguas pirámides.



The site of an important Mayan ceremonial center, Uayma was chosen by the Franciscans for the Grand Mission of Saint Dominic. It was built from the stones of the ancient pyramids.
